EVGA throws down, GTX 460 2WIN coming soon

EVGA rarely ever holds back in anything they do, today is no exception as the company announces a dual GTX 460 powered video card that is set to spank even the latest NVIDIA has to offer. The GTX 460 2WIN is slated to offer support for 4 montitors, 3D and performance besting the GTX 580 for a lower price. With the same formula working well for ATI/AMD it’s no shock that someone finally started to clone it.

Specs on the GTX 460 2WIN

  • Dual 700MHz GPU (GTX460)
  • 672 CUDA cores
  • 400MHz RAMDAC (aren’t most?)
  • 2GB 512-bit GDDR5
  • 3600MHz memory
  • 230.4GB memory bandwidth

Also as usual I’ve included a few teaser shots as EVGA already has the card and packaging setup to go, it would only be a perfect match if they had some PCB color choices going on like the white dual 460 floating around the net.

When I get a final price on this monster value card I’ll be sure to post it, this might become the next cornerstone of any budget build if it lands just right.

Gunner Galaxies arrives on the iPhone and iPad…for free

In our off time we had an email drop about Gunner Galaxies coming to the iOS products for cheap, while it’s not hard to imagine 99 cent games or $1.99 games we rarely see well developed new releases debut at free and in HD form as well. Check it out on the App Store and give it a whirl, afterall it’ll only cost you a bit of bandwidth or wifi time. For those hoping to get more details, check out the mini gallery for some ideas of what madness you’re stepping into.

For those that take the leap let us know what you think of the game in the comments as only one of us has an Apple device and I don’t see any Android love right now. Maybe we can get a word from Franks when he drops in today.

Portal 2 gets more goods from The National

The National and Valve announced today the band will be adding a new track to the ever expanding Portal 2. While not a theme song, it will be unique to the game and written directly around the events to make for an interesting bonus to the existing game.

Not much else is being said so instead of talking about their accolades I’ll just note that everyone has about another month to wait until this hits retail and sucks everyone in again. April 18th is coming and none of us can stop it.

Also I’ve included a small gallery of pretty pictures from the game. Enjoy!

We have a few new screens to celebrate the moment, for those like myself who haven’t finished Arkham Asylum yet, it’s time to get to work because now there’s a timer counting down finally.

RAGE and Dark Horse Comics team up

RAGE is coming, not just in game form or in daily response to ill omen. Rage is coming in comic form thanks to Arvid Nelson and Andrea Mutti to show off the post-apocalyptic future of the game and explain a bit about it. Dark Horse Comics has a history of taking on the unlikely candidates in the comic realm, giving chances to young artists a chance to tell their stories and even experimenting with unique fiction from abroad.

Rage is set to span 3 issues and act as extension of the game universe that the storyline might miss when it debuts later this year. Readers will be treated to a story of survival of survival at all costs with military factions in control of the wasteland known as Earth.

For those wondering how messed up and dark this world is check out some of the game screen shots to give an idea of what’s in store. After that just hold on until June 22nd for the first issue to arrive in stores and continue each month until September when the game will be released.

Buffy turns 14!

Well she actually turned 30 this year but March 10th marks the 14th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s television debut!

I remember it was my freshmen year of high school and I couldn’t believe there was a show about vampires! In 97′, prime time tv seemed to be made up of twenty somethings in New York or thirty somethings in New York.

I saw “Welcome to the Hellmouth” and “The Harvest” and was hooked instantly. The show wasn’t just horror, comedy or a drama. It was all of those things, yet at the same time not. It wasn’t just that it was action, it was also relatable in some way.

It was a cast of teens in a small California town dealing with the same problems as any normal teen would. The only difference is that some of their problems could eat you. They dealt with amplified versions of problems normal people faced.

I of course did not recognize this immediately, being only 13 at the time. The metaphor and underlying themes weren’t apparent . I couldn’t explain it but I could sense that it was something unique.

I just recently re watched the series and I can say that it gets better with each screening. In fact, if you have ever been to my house, chances are, I will make you watch an episode if you have never seen it. I have converted many who missed out or were too young at the time to really enjoy the show.

There are people who will flat out not watch. Usually it is for one of two reasons they give.

1 – That is a stupid name, I’m not watching that!

2- That is so fake!

To the first, it’s just a name, get over it.

To the second, duh! Its a show with vampires and demons. There is nothing real on tv unless you are watching national geographic.

If you have never seen BtVS, I highly recommend it. If you have netflix, you can stream it right now.
