Bandai Entertainment exits the publishing realm

In the past decade we’ve seen the fall of many anime groups, today Bandai Entertainment joins the ranks of the fallen as they plan to exit the Anime and Manga realm at the end of this month. The focus will cause the company to stop releasing new titles on DVD/Blu-ray and Manga formats and instead look toward digital distribution networks, broadcasting and merchandise efforts.

As  a result we’ll see the following titles cancelled.

  • Turn-A-Gundam
  • Nichijou
  • Gosick
  • Kannagi 4-6
  • Code Geass: Renya
  • Gurren Lagann Vol. 7
  • Gundam 001
  • Lucky Star Boo Boo Kagaboo
  • Nichijou Manga
  • Code Geass R2 Novels
  • Tales of the Abyss : Jade 1 & 2

Also expect to see the Twitter and Facebook groups for Bandai Entertainment closing up shop soon as well. Word is the Current Amazon storefront for Bandai will continue to operate during this time of transition. For those worried about their gaming experience, no word has landed on Namco Bandai being impacted by this change at this point.

Ever wanted to make your own 360 Joystick? Instructables has a tutorial

Normally I’m sketchy about most tutorials, mainly because you never actually see the work going on. In the Instructable they promoted today you actually get the hard guide and a video tutorial of the stages to complete the thing. Keep in mind this requires a steady hand and some soldering skills to get it right.

Also you might need to investigate where to buy the parts to begin with, I’ve dug around briefly and found these. I know X-Arcade doesn’t have the best rep for competition but I’m throwing it out there for those who just want the bundle to get rolling.

If you have any favorites please mention them in the comments!

Update – Gotham City Impostors pushed back to February

So we’ve heard about Gotham City Impostors for a while now, unfortunately today we hear a sad tale from WB where the game is been pushed back to February now with no specific date of when to expect it.

It’s an unfortunate setback for the game as it is set to pit 12 players head to head in mock super hero and super villain teams using licensed material from the Batman franchise of course. Xbox, Playstation and PC users will be able to get access to the game as a downloadable title and battle it out to their heart’s content. I saw the game in action at E3 2011 and it looked decent enough but unfortunately we’ll have to hold out a while longer to see if it’s worth jumping into.

For more info keep an eye on the Gotham City Impostors homepage for details. Otherwise check out the video below to get an idea of what feels like a Batman themed TF2 massive shooter.

A Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos Screening is coming to LA

The latest FMA movie is coming to the US, it’s a one night event and it’s open to only a select panel of people, it all sounds a bit impossible but if you’re going to AM2 this year you might have a shot.

If you’ve already bought a passport or pick one up soon you could get a chance to see the screening on January 20th, 2012 in Los Angeles to not only see the screening but to meet the cast and production team for The Sacred Star of Milos.

Keep in mind the spaces are limited as it’s no doubt a shared event with the cast and media but it’s still a unique event that you will not want to miss.

The details:

Date:                January 20, 2012
Location:         Downtown Independent (251 S. Main St.; Los Angeles, CA
90012); <>
Time:               8:00 pm; Screeing at 9:00 pm followed by Q&A with
production & cast members

There’s no specified minimum passport to buy so anyone even attending for a day has the potential to be drawn for the event. For more information and purchasing visit the AM2Con page and see if it’s for you.
