Some years ago, a lone traveler paid a visit to a tavern in Denerim, and after imbibing a great quantity of ale related a tale of his travels to the tavern-keeper. The traveler claimed to have stumbled upon a strange village high in the Frostback Mountains. The village was peaceful, he said, and the villagers polite, if a little aloof. They fed him and watered his horse, and then urged him to be on his way. When he lingered too long, suddenly their mood changed. Their faces grew cold and knives appeared, and the traveler was told that what was to happen next “was done in Andraste’s name and for the good of all.” He fled in a panic and could not afterwards retrace his path. The traveler took a room at the tavern and yet never slept there. He disappeared that night and was not heard from again.

It is in the books, the PS3 went on a diet.

Starting tomorrow, you can get a slimmer PS3 without leaving your wallet anorexic. New price of $299.99 cuts the price by $100. Done away are the hdd options as the 120gig becomes the standard.

The only person not on the guest list, are PS2 games. The backwards compatibility sadly doesn’t survive the slim and sexy makeover.

So as we reported before the Netflix 360 update goes live today. You can finally add to your instant view queue from your 360! Although it should be noted you cannot search specific titles but you can browse.

Also if you are hawk-eyed while doing your update, you will notice this message:

“This exclusive partnership offers you the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360. Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers, at no additional cost.”

As some of you may know by now, I am having a love affair with NetFlix in general but I am smitten with it on the 360 in particular. So I am very pleased with the news about the next 360 update.

On Aug 11th, the update allows you to videos to your instant view queue from your 360. No more running to a PC to update your queue! As if that wasn’t enough, you can now watch your movies and shows with others over Xbox Live! marry me NetFlix!

Also with the update is the new Avatar marketplace functionality. There should be plenty of variety available to customize your mii…I mean, Xbox Live avatars.

The new game on demand feature will go live as well. There will be 30+ titles at launch and will include some heavy hitters like Mass Effect and BioShock.

New teenage mutant ninja turtles movie in the works! According to a casting call press release, the movie is set for 2011. This a great opportunity for any martial artists to learn from Keno himself!

Hopefully Corey Feldman is available for voice work!

Big social networking news on day 1 of E3!

Twitter and facebook are coming in the fall to a console near you! As long as that console is an XBOX 360 that is.

Twitter works how you expect it should. You follow updates from your friends while posting your current goings on, all from the comfort of your couch.

Facebook was announced by none other than my wife that doesn’t know she loves me, Felicia Day(the guild, Dr. Horrible). It works along the same way facebook users have become accustomed to. The added bonus is that it uses the xbox’s own menus! As if that wasn’t enough it also includes a feature called FaceBook connect that enables user to share screen grabs from in game and share them with your fellow gamers!

I saw this video a while ago and have been in a nerd coma since seeing it. Everyone should see this fan made trailer for the Green Lantern. If you are a fan of awesome, you will enjoy its geniusness.

As you may have guessed, it stars Nathan Fillion in outstandingly brilliant casting as GL. The video quality is quite impressive and is the result of lots of hard work by Jaron Pitts of Texas.

Captain tight pants back in space!

I stumbled across the greatest team up in documented history. Pb and J are blown out of the water by This completely awesome pairing.

Of course I am talking about Hasbro and Marvel.

Anyone born in the 80′s was raised on a steady diet of ghost busters, transformers and GI Joe. Of the three, GI Joe by far had the most action pose potential. Marvel toys were never the most agile of figures. They moved like they had all four limbs in a cast. And then over starched their undies.
For years kids just used the Joes and pretended they were comic heroes.

Hasbro had the GI Joe license and the Marvel line was handled by Toy Biz. Hasbro had the superior play quality and Toy biz had the detail…  but it was like playing with a detailed block of wood.

Action figure collector’s prayers have been answered. Hasbro unveiled it’s Marvel Universe line of figures.
