Ransome talks Thimbleweed Park in latest trailer

Time to solve a murder, the collapse of a cities industry, science gone awry and who took the time to flip toilet paper rolls around throughout the city to cause turmoil with residents. It’s apparently just another day in Thimbleweed Park though as players navigate through 5 playable characters to figure out what exactly is going on in this town.

Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick are back on the adventure scene with ragey clowns, pillow heiresses and a town lost into decay, it sounds just like a lovely tale for the ages. For those longing for a shot of nostalgia that brings classic graphics and deeper gameplay it’s certainly looking like a strong consideration given you can’t trust anyone, even the two people trying to sort out the mess.

As the release is a few months off, let’s just stroll through some footage of what awaits.

Xbox One getting Path of Exile this year

Grinding Gear Games has a bit of good news for ARPG fans on the Xbox One, Path of Exile is making its way to the console front in 2017 and it’s bringing a load of content along with it. Even though the game has been around since 2013 as a play for free entity it’s taken up a facelift and numerous overhauls to make it more appealing for console players with a refined control system.

With five expansions and Act V as incentives they’re packing everything they can in to get people into those dungeons and start hacking away.  While there aren’t a ton of details about the Xbox One version they did make up for it with a teaser trailer. Check out the smooth framerate, improved lighting, mechanics and experience as we hold for more news.

Logan (2017) Red Band Trailer: Logan must protect to survive

Today not only did we see the Official Power Rangers trailer but we also got another Logan (Old Man Logan) trailer also released from 20th Century. We final get a peek at Logan’s X-23 played by Dafne Keen, if you’re not familiar with the X-Men franchise and the character X-23, she is a female clone of Logan aka Wolverine created by writer Craig Kyle for the X-Men Evolution animated series and much like DC’s Jon Stewart (Green Lantern) she became widely popular and was eventually put into cannon Comics. Like Wolverine she was trained as an assassin for an organization called the Facility. Eventually she ends up crossing paths with the X-Men who take her in and train her.

The trailer reveals a lot of what I just mention along with a glimpse of movies baddies.

SPARCO steps into the gaming chair arena

If DXRacer and Playseat weren’t going it for you in the upper tier levels of gaming chairs, SPARCO is now throwing their hat into the ring. The racing seat producer has expressed their interest in tackling the needs of eSports, sim and everyday players who want a comfy chair during their experience.

SPARCO breaks these down into 3 categories for their product line:

GRIP: Their entry level unit introduces contouring, synthetic leather for durability, lumbar adjustments and reclining features. It has the staples of many entry level products you see on the market for gaming chairs.

STINT: For those working from home or practicing in long sessions the design goals change, aiming to ventilate the backrest through a shift in fabric and cushion materials, their goal is improving blood flow which helps keep users focused and comforted.

COMP: Touted as the Luxury model of the group, the series actually has a split within itself as the C and V. The C series takes a unique presentation with a carbon fiber backrest while the V uses a matte black fiberglass backrest. Both units have DNA from the SPX SPARCO seat.

It’s an interesting pursuit on their part, users have paired racing seats from many companies to their own simulation rigs for a while now, having one with casters certainly would be a nice shift but I don’t know if it’s enough to really grab the market as pricing isn’t available.

As someone who uses a DXRacer King Series I’ve been quite happy with my chair and it’s been well over a year since I bought it. While it’s nice to have durable and comfortable seating that caters to my height, it’s also important to cater to the audience differences as enthusiasts aren’t all 5’7″ 155lbs. Features like the C and V series have are interesting but performance gains from a carbon fiber backrest on a wheeled chair aren’t really anything I can claim exist, it’s more of a vanity thing unfortunately.

We’ll have to see where things take off from here when SPARCO gets their products to retail and understand where this line is going from there.

20 Years of Buffy brings third The High School Years book

Being a vampire slayer was never easy work, as Buffy celebrates 20 years on the job we’re treated to a new release of Parental Parasite helmed by Joss Whedon, Kel McDonald and Yishan Li.

The brief teaser leads on with a sudden interest by Joyce in everything that Buffy has going on in her life. This sudden shift along with school, life and that slayer life makes for a complicated situation, couple that with Joyce falling under hypnosis from a demon that wants its own mother and this all just becomes a little much for the Vampire Slayer.

Note: The book takes place during Season 1 of the TV series

Buffy: The High School Years – Parental Parasite goes on sale June 28th and is available for preorder.

Nintendo Switch’s Controller

The showing of 2 major 3rd party games in my opinion was huge; fans have express their disappointment for Nintendo’s lack of 3rd party games, but it seems like Nintendo tends to address this with this console and that’s great news, fans We also got a glimpse of a new 3D Mario, Legend of Zelda, Splatoon 2.%e2%80%8cnintendo-switch-5

The release date for the Nintendo Switch is March 2017, from now to its official release Nintendo has to put all their attention to the systems marketing campaign they can’t afford to have another flop like the Wii U has become. If they keep dropping trailers like this one and bring along some %e2%80%8cnintendo-switch-3strong 3rd party games I don’t see any reason for Nintendo to not be able get their status back as one of the Top gaming consoles along the side of Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Is the hype behind Hello Games No Man’s Sky good thing?

Over the years, many open world games have generated massive hype. The Elder Scrolls, GTA, Far Cry and more have all have been on a top 10 anticipated list the year of their release. For the most part, these have had success, but very few and I do mean few… have lived up to their hype.

With social networking at the level that it is now, games tend to get hyped on what I call troll status, one can argue that Twitter, Reddit, and similar networking services are the reason for games becoming over-hyped, and sadly that seems to be the issue nowadays. A key title that comes to mind is Tom Clancy’s the Division, Ubisoft announced the Division at E3 2013 and when gameplay footage was released the media and social channels went nuts, people were already labeling it the game of the year despite it not having a release date.

Later in 2014 Ubisoft stated the game would be delayed, the hype they generated from those key teasers had turned against them. When it released the game didn’t have the sales success the company expected and still faces an uphill challenge as a Spring release.

screenshot_ps4_no_man_s_sky_3_131993Hello Games first release, No Man’s Sky now faces that same dilemma after a surge of popularity from E3. I’m not saying it’s going to be a letdown but it does have a wave of momentum driving it, just as the Division had in many ways with so little known and experienced firsthand. Keep in mind, I’m just pointing out the similarities as far as the hype is concerned, it’s the growing wave of hope and anticipation with so little to support it that rests at the core.

Let’s be real, it’s not fair to compare other games to it but that’s where we’re at. As said before, the social media drives a different story with players. The games developers have already mentioned the pressure No Man’s Sky has generated because of the hype, now the game has an uphill battle which it’s almost destined to lose because of the pedestal the game is being elevated to before it’s even out.

NoMansSky_SpaceStationTube.0There have only been a few new IP’s able to meet the lofty expectations of the public and Hello Games is taking on that challenge. How they started was key, by promising procedural generated stars, planets, lifeforms, ecosystems, and other space-bound factions. Using deterministic algorithms and random number generators, by doing so it eliminated the dev’s time on creating these worlds by hand and will give the game a massive and open feel. Players will be able to visit specific planets vivid coordinates they come across, these coordinates serve as the planets topography and environment information.

CreatureNo Man’s Sky features 32 & 64-bit seeded galaxies, 32-bit having a staggering 4.3 billion worlds and 64-bit 18 quintillion planets, that’s right folks 18 quintillions! With those numbers, you can assume why so many jumped on the hype train and why some became skeptical. This will be the first time ever a game will promise such a massive open-world experience, games like GTA 5, Skyrim and Witcher 3 feature massive worlds, but not to this degree. The chance players run into each other in this massive game is said to be zero according to Hello Games, although players can reach planets discovered by others by the games atlas. When players discover a new planet he or she is credited for it and given currency upon, as well as the chance to name their discovery. For me, the biggest question was “Can I play Online?”, and Hello Games confirmed it would after its first semi-open beta test was completed.

Becron5With that said, can No Man’s Sky live up to the hype it has generated? The answer is no, gamers today demand bigger and better experiences, too much for any game to fill given the imaginations of all those betting on the game. Not one game coming from Bethesda or Rockstar has managed to succeed in this field and it’s because the legend the game creates is always bigger than the final product. Instead of betting on the mysticism the real question should be, will it be a good game, and the answer to that is yeah, I think so.

The highy Anticipated Season 6 of Game of Thrones is right around the corner!!!

HBO’s highly anticipated season 6 of the hit television show Game of thrones is right around the corner, the big question most fans are looking forward to be answered is. Is John Snow truly dead? This isn’t just a question TV viewers asked but also book readers, In fact most readers like myself was wondering how and if George R.R. Martin would finished the The Winds of Winter & A Dream of Spring before season 6, that was answer when HBO announced season 6’s filming in late July of 2015, Surely George R.R. Martin had to approve of this move, HBO doesn’t have any material to use since books 6 & 7 haven’t dropped yet, But again that was also answer when leaked news of the new season confirmed it will be using book 6 material.screenshot-419

The news got everyone ecstatic and the theories fans have of certain characters could possibly be answer or debunked, one things is for certain, we will find out Jon Snows fate and for book readers The Battle of Meereen and The Battle for the North, While there’s a list of questions that need answers in the book, as for TV, viewers are focus on Jon snow and the White Walkers.
arya game of thrones season 6This season is setting up to create a buzz much like the first season, HBO should be expecting a huge jump in viewership, each trailer so far for season 6 has hit over a 8 million viewer mark so it’s safe to say that people are ready the Game of Thrones greatness, the good thing is that fans don’t have to wait long with the season premiering April 24, book readers on the other hand have no true release date.
