NBC all set to bring “Heroes Reborn” in 2015

Yesterday original creator and executive producer Tim Kring and NBC announced the return of the iconic series “Heroes” with the fan base still active, the network has decided to bring the series back in a 13 episode new story arc entitled “Heroes Reborn,” details of the story-line and characters are being kept under wraps as of right now.

“The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

NBC plans to debut the new arc in 2015, with its return “Heroes Reborn” will launch a digital series prior to the 2015 premiere, it will introduce the characters and new story-lines. NBC is hoping the social media route will get fans to reconnect with the franchise

Review – King Conan: The Conqueror Part 1 of 6

Writer: Timothy Truman
Artist: Tomas Giorello
Colorist: Jose Villarrubia
Cover Artist: Tomas Giorello
Published by: Dark Horse Comics

After nearly getting the jewel from Beloso in the Hour of the dragon 22198Arc, Conan after some time has now tracked Beloso and the jewel down to Messantia. .

Story Spoilers »

The kingdom of Messantia is know for its trade and Conan has figure that if Beloso is to sell the jewel it would be here, so in order to find more info about Beloso’s whereabouts he sneaks into Publio’s villa and demands him to help find Beloso, Publio agrees to help Conan but not before secretly stating he’ll get rid of the cimmerian once and for all. At the same time a group of assassins set to capture or kill Conan have arrive, when publio returns he tells him that Beloso is sleeping in the house of Servio. When night falls Conan makes his way to Beloso’s room, when he arrives Beloso is laying dead with the mark of Set on his chest, Conan comes to realization that someone else is also tracking the jewel and maybe still be around, After noticing a ship leaving the bay Conan tries to follow but is confronted by some men Publio paid to take his life, outnumbered Conan is knocked out by the men and is left for dead. Meanwhile the assassins have confronted publio about Conan and where he may be hiding, At first publio tries to lie saying that he sent Conan to the house of servio but when one of  the men he sent to take out Conan returns and tells him and the assassins that they have killed Conan and his body lays at the seaport, the assassins then make Publio and the man show them where the body is laid. When they get to the port Conan’s body is no longer there and they notice a ship leaving, the issue ends with heavily wounded Conan rowing away on the boat and the assassins vowing to follow Conan to wherever seas he may go even to hell if needed.—————————

The Conqueror starts off fast from the jump, Truman doesn’t waste anytime getting into it. The pacing is extremely fast, mostly due to the fact that its a continuation story, so character development and other things that involves a new arc aren’t really explored feature in this issue, So new readers may want to catch up on some back issues in order to figure what’s going on. that aside King Conan: The Conqueror Part 1 is a typical Conan issue, and i mean that in a good way.

Timothy Truman’s King Conan arcs are completely different from Brian Woods, While woods likes to show more emotions in his version of Conan, Truman keeps Conan at his purest and true savagery nature which in actuality is Conan’s true character. Artist and Colorist Tomas Giorello, Jose Villarrubia are back and bring that consistency we all come to expect from the both of them.

As expected in a first issue nothing big really happened, Turman uses The Conqueror Part 1 as a setup for the next issue so expect more in the next issue.

Review – Conan The Barbarian:The Song Of Belit – Part Three & Four

Writer:Brian Wood
Artist: Leandro Fernand
Colorist: Dave Stewart
Cover Artist: Massimo Carnevale

In the Song of Belit part three we see Conan change back to his old 22890self only this time with a broken heart, After Belit and the crews death Conan is left only on a mysterious and dangerous land, and in part three we see him cut and slash his way through a pack of Hellhound like creatures. From the first page to the last Conan is fighting for his life, the action is non stop. finally we see him make it out alive and back to sea.
Part 4 we see that Conan has landed at the Black Kingdom, we finally see how the death of Belit has effected him. known as the Ghost by the local’s Conan now spends his time drinking and partaking in meaningless gladiator fights, when the local Tavern owner Thessy confronts him about the man he has become Conan finally picks up the pieces of his broken heart and decides to move on as changed man no longer living just for treasure.

22891Brian Woods Conan run has been one that should be praised, we have seen Conan as a character growth and maturation throughout his run, things like doubt,Fear, love,Devotion, happiness all these at one point was shown, and for that i give Woods much credit. The artwork also deserves its praise, artist’s Leandro Fernand, Riccardo Burchielli, Paul Azaceta, Davide Gianfelice, Becky Cloonan, James Harren made the world of Brian Woods version Conan to life, and for the most part the work was always consistent and every artist kept the art style similar to a degree, Don’t forget Massimo Carnevale amazing cover art as well

I enjoy Brian woods work and sad that its come to an end, hopefully the next writer will put the time and effect woods has done for his run.

Need for Speed releases “The Guys” Featurette

It’s no secret I love racing and cars, from WRC, MotoGP, F1 to games and anything else related. So naturally when I first saw the teasers for the NFS movie I was excited, it may not be some avant-garde level film that changes the world forever but it’s probably entertaining and able to feed my car interests for the duration of the film. Today we have a new snippet to show that helps reinforce that goodness.

While NFS might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I’ll certainly check it out when it hits theaters next month. Fingers crossed it doesn’t disappoint, come on Aaron Paul, lets see this come together.

Dark Horse Takes Six Spots In The 2014 Great Graphic Novels for Teens List

YearoftheHorseFB

Last week, the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) committee published their much-anticipated 2014 Great Graphic Novels for Teens list, adding, for the first time, a top-ten list. Not surprisingly, given the tremendous success of Dark Horse’s 2013 publishing line, the publisher landed six titles on this year’s list, with two making it into the top tenThe Adventures of Superhero Girl and MIND MGMT!

This year’s Dark Horse selections are as follows:

“Dark Horse has always considered librarians to be essential to the cause of bringing graphic novels to a broader audience, just as we feel visionary writers and artists push the boundaries of the medium,” said Dark Horse’s VP of book trade sales, Michael Martens. “With the selections of these titles to the 2014 YALSA Great Graphic Novels for Teens list, the boundaries will be pushed and the audience broadened! Thanks to both YALSA and our authors for making this happen!”
