ZELDA

In a monumental year for entertainment, Dark Horse Comics has secured its place in video-game-art history with The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia™, which charted in the top ten as one of 2013’s best-selling books globally.

In February, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia soared to the top of the Nielsen BookScan charts, making it the #1 book in America.

In addition, the book reached #1 on the Wall Street Journal and New York Times bestseller lists. Dark Horse announced a record print run, with the number continuing to grow as The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia dominated orders in the UK, China, Italy, Spain, and Canada.

“We knew this book was going to be one of the highlights of the year before it even hit catalogs,” said Dark Horse’s president and publisher, Mike Richardson, “but no one could have predicted the unprecedented success and acclaim this book has received. Hyrule Historia has earned a place in the Dark Horse history books!”

This handsome hardcover contains never-before-seen concept art, the full history of Hyrule, the official chronology of the games, and much more! Starting with an insightful introduction by the legendary producer and video-game designer of Donkey Kong™Mario™, and The Legend of Zelda™, Shigeru Miyamoto, this book is crammed full of information about the storied history of Link™’s adventures from the creators themselves! As a bonus, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia includes an exclusive comic by the foremost creative team of The Legend of Zelda manga—Akira Himekawa!

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia is a must-have for any Legend of Zelda fan!

Praise for The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia:

“Perfect for Zelda fans and appealing to gaming historians, Zelda: Hyrule Historia is a shelf worthy piece of non-fiction about a great fiction.”—Newsarama

“With the full gamut of chronology on full display and a nearly ridiculous amount of history and artwork to sift through, this collection is huge and exhausting. It’s also well worth it, as this guide is the only one in its existence that could gather so many facts about such a beloved series and make it as terrific looking as it is.”—EGM Now

“Hyrule Historia fulfills on its premise: a history of Hyrule, the wonderful, legendary world we’ve been falling in love with again and again since 1987. If you’re looking for the latest collector’s piece to celebrate your love for the franchise, look no further: Hyrule Historia is it.”—IGN

“The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia is a work of love for all Zelda fans. The creative team really wanted to give something back to the people on the 25th Anniversary of the franchise and with this book they nailed it. With tons of concept art, an official timeline, insight into the creative process, and a wonderful comic, this book is one that any Zelda fan will find worthwhile. Funimation brings Okami-San and Her Seven Companions and Black Butler

Huge title says it all but I’ll try to elaborate anyway.

Funimation just announced their releases for next week and fans will be able to get a dose of anime in box set form. Okami-San and Her Seven Companions is the first dose of goodness coming with a special mousepad to accompany you. Keep in mind the perk is in limited quantity so order early so you don’t miss out, check out the picture to the right for a sample of the art included on it.

For those unfamiliar with the story we have a brief synopsis:

Once upon a time, the studio behind Toradora! and Shakugan no Shana created a fable-minded story full of fairy tale tomfoolery, attractive archetypes, allusions to allegories, parodies of para—ugh, enough alliteration! You get my drift…

Ryoko Ōkami, the “wolf” of our story, and her BFF Ringo, also known as Little Red Riding Hood, are members of Otogi Bank—a high school club that helps classmates out of grim situations. One day, a meek young man proclaims his love to Ryoko, who does nothing but bite him in return. “You’re much too weak for me,” she huffs. So the boy joins Otogi Bank to prove he has the stuff to protect his beloved—even if it means taking a blow to the head with a lead pipe. He’s no Prince Charming, but will Ryoko allow herself to have her own happily ever after?

Not a bad setup but April 3rd also brings extra perks with Black Butler Seasons 1 and 2 in Blu-ray/DVD combo packaging. If you’ve been hoping for an HD experience with Sebastian and Ciel in HD then you’re in luck as it should be available through major retailers soon or if you’re eager to order right now just hit Amazon and Rightstuf for the goods.

If none of those grab your interest I suggest checking out the Funimation Amazon.com sale going on where titles are going over 50% off in many cases. Time to stock up while you can!

CM4 drops prices on Catalyst for the holidays

Gifts are always a pain for friends and family, CM4 hopes to sneak their way onto the lists of those gamers for 2010 with a price reduction on their catalyst line. The slim and tough covers are designed to compliment the latest portable systems from Nintendo and Sony and even cover the Wiimote.

Drawing attention to function without bulk the skins should earn a spot on lists for those unable to pinpoint a specific idea for that someone. Also the style and form should be enough to muscle out any existing cases they might have.

Check out their site for more info.
