WEBZEN & MU Legend blow out Valentines Day with beta key giveaway

Eager to boost some social interactions, WEBZEN the developer and publisher for MU Legend have decided to kick off Valentines with a beta key giveaway on their Facebook page. The second closed beta period opens the next week so they decided to make the twist on it a little interesting.

Unfortunately that does leave those with an interest to play wonder what exactly to do today but at least they’ve got you covered in a week. The upcoming beta focuses on localization, primarily for German, French, Polish, Spanish and Brazilian-Portuguese players. If you don’t speak any of those you can always play in English of course.

The announcement also includes a new teaser from WEBZEN that  you can catch below.

ComiXology goes HD, includes Social integration

With the latest iPad hitting retail it’s no shocker that everyone is trying to update and make use of the new hardware, ComiXology is rolling out CMX HD to bring high-resolution content to the new iPad for a select group of titles. Expansion will be inevitable and the company notes they’re already working on updating their catalog to the new standards hoping that HD plays a large part in their next milestone of purchases and sharing between comic fans.

In addition to the upgraded goodness of crisp art, CMX HD will also allow readers to share comics with friends on Facebook, Twitter and Email form to spread the word, it’s a unique way to keep friends updated on your tastes especially when the holidays come around and they go into panic mode. It’s also a solid way to turn those on the fence over to comics or more specifically digital comics through ComiXology.

Here’s a full taste of the app log, enjoy and chase it down if you’re already holding on to an iPad HD. If not just continue enjoying your collection and know that your SD titles will be getting a nice boost in the future as well!

CMX-HD Comics
Now featuring High Definition capable comics for the new iPad — with twice the resolution. Look for the CMX-HD badge in the store to find these HD comics and graphic novels.

Facebook Sharing
Finally, users also have the option of sharing comments via an individual’s Facebook wall or Timeline.

iOS 5 Integrated Twitter Sharing
Comics now uses the new Twitter APIs on iOS 5 to enable social commenting on any Comic Book.

iOS Email Sharing
Users also have the option of sharing via Email.  The Email share view displays the iOS app email compose view, including an HTML formatted email.

In all cases, including Twitter, if no network is available then the user will not see any share options.  If an account is not yet set up for the chosen share method, then Comics will alert the user to setup that particular sharing account.

The “Read Now” Button
Immediately after purchasing a comic book that begins downloading, users will be presented with a “Read Now” button (replacing the former “Downloading” button).  Now users can begin reading comic books without waiting for the entire download to complete.

Miscellaneous Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements
Additionally to the above feature enhancements we have made substantial improvements to bugs, crashes and stability in the Comics App.

Outplay is bringing Tricks and Booty to your Facebook apps

Okay so it’s not as bad as the headline sounds, Outplay Entertainment is a new casual gaming company hoping to get some gamer’s to check out their new releases on Facebook. The two titles in question are Word Trick and Booty Quest, yes I know I know, I had to go over that a few times as well.

Booty Quest takes players into a classic Bejeweled format of chain attacks to survive. You grab all the booty you can find to score high and gain multipliers in each round, you’ll be racing the clock so you’ll need to move fast to set the bar for each conquest. As a game that combines simple mechanics and booty, it’s hard to go wrong just based on that information. From the screen shots it looks like a solid offering for players hoping to get some quick enjoyment without the fuss or hassle that come with higher profile offerings, you grab as much booty as you can and get out after you set your score.

Word Trick is just as simple, it’s a scrabble type game that will hook users of words with friends and other popular word games. You can challenge friends or random opponents for a battle of the brains or at least others that spam google for word help like no tomorrow. Popular features are in Word Trick including Chat and Status updates when your opponents make a move.

Both games are available now on Facebook, I suggest you enjoy some Word Trick and cool off by getting your fill of Booty Quest before calling it a night.

E3 update- twitter and Facebook coming to the 360

Big social networking news on day 1 of E3!

Twitter and facebook are coming in the fall to a console near you! As long as that console is an XBOX 360 that is.

Twitter works how you expect it should. You follow updates from your friends while posting your current goings on, all from the comfort of your couch.

Facebook was announced by none other than my wife that doesn’t know she loves me, Felicia Day(the guild, Dr. Horrible). It works along the same way facebook users have become accustomed to. The added bonus is that it uses the xbox’s own menus! As if that wasn’t enough it also includes a feature called FaceBook connect that enables user to share screen grabs from in game and share them with your fellow gamers!

Let the parade of halo tea bagging profile pics begin!
