Dark Horse & Bioware Unveil It’s Latest Mass Effect Collectibles!

Turian-Crusier-04-032613 copy

All-new 6” Turian Cruiser ship to hit shelves in November!

One of the cornerstones of both Dark Horse’s publishing and product line in recent years, has been the massive video game franchise, Mass Effect.

To date, Dark Horse Deluxe has released four different ships, as well as limited edition variant, and high end editions. Up next is the Turian cruiser, which bears some slight resemblance to the Normandy, due to the cooperative effort between the Turians and the human race in the Alliance ship’s construction. This race in Mass Effect, are members of the Citadel Council, well known for their military role, and their contribution of starships to the Citadel Fleet.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support gamers have given our Mass Effect ship replica series,” Dark Horse’s David Scroggy remarked, ” and look forward to continuing the line with this latest release. We have been working directly with the Mass Effect game design team, interfacing with them to obtain the exact 3D design specs that ensure accuracy of detail.”

Each Turian Cruiser Replica package will contain an insert card, with a unique code, that will enhance the Mass Effect game experience for individual consumers.

For an additional sneak peak, check out the exclusive on Kotaku

Look for this exciting new release in Diamond’s Previews catalog shortly, with a release date set for November 6, with a retail price tag of $34.99!

Our wide range of titles, from Vampirella to Battlestar Galactica, Grimm, The Shadow, Red Sonja, and many of our other Dynamite titles, are a perfect fit for the large audience who purchase Dark Horse titles. We’re thrilled to work with Mike and his team at Dark Horse Digital on this new endeavor and excited about new opportunities to come,” added Nick Barrucci, Dynamite Entertainment’s CEO and publisher.

Dark Horse Deluxe Large-Scale Mass Effect Reaper Replica!

Dark Horse Deluxe announces a brand-new phase of collectibles inspired by one of the most highly decorated franchises in the history of games, Mass Effect™. The first collectible to introduce this series is a limited-edition, large-scale replica of the Reaper known as Sovereign, which will be on public display at the Dark Horse booth (#1528) at New York Comic Con. Set for release on June 26, 2013, this premium replica will be offered at a retail price of $349.99.

Fans can preorder the strictly limited, 18.5” tall replica at the BioWare store today! Each piece will be individually numbered and will include an in-game bonus item for Mass Effect 3 multiplayer*!

This craft is the flagship of the rogue Spectre Saren Arterius. Responsible for leading a devastating attack on the Citadel in the original Mass Effectgame, Sovereign is an enormous sentient dreadnought larger than two kilometers in length. The Dark Horse re-creation of Sovereign also has a sculpted base depicting a devastated city and planetary surface to convey its huge scale.

The replica will be solicited to the trade in the Dark Horse Deluxe section of the November cover dated issue of Diamond’s Previews. While the final edition size has yet to be determined, it is certain less than 1,000 of this high-end collectible will be produced!

*This in-game item will only be available for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Mass Effect 3.

Review – Mass Effect: Homeworlds #4 – Part 4 of 4

Story: Mac Walters and Sylvia Feketekuty
Script: Jeremy Barlow
Art: Omar Francia
Colors: Michael Atiyeh
Letters: Michael Heisler
Cover Art: Anthony Palumbo
Alternative Cover: Mike Hawthorne
Published by: Dark Horse Comics

The final installment of the Homeworlds series is here, we jump in with Liara T’soni before the Mass Effect 3 storyline kicks off. Functioning as the Shadow Broker she seeks every shred of information possible to stand a chance against the Reapers. It has become an impossible task for her to find the information that she needs but her persistence and connections are what carry her onward to find even the slightest glimmer of hope.

In Homeworlds #4 we see Liara pushing the limits of her relationships, associations and more and it’s finally wearing on her. We get a sense of her mental fatigue processing so much endless data, we see the juggled commitments and those she’s personally tied to expressing their concern of where this is all going. Although one has to admit, if the entire universe was on the brink of annihilation this wouldn’t be all that surprising or unexpected to come across, it’s just the gravity of the situation hasn’t come crashing down yet.

With desperation growing, Liara goes from authority to fresh game, Cerberus may be partnered up with her but it doesn’t take much to signal them to put a knife in her back if an opportunity presents itself. Their own personal quest for information has clashed with her with the Reapers going into higher activity. It’s an interesting exchange and Liara continues to use the knowledge and skills that got her where she is to show who the force is in this deal. For her, burning a few bridges is nothing if it means saving the universe from ceasing to exist, she just gets even tougher and heads forward even stronger than before.

We leave with her story going straight into Mass Effect 3 and conclude this arc of Homeworlds stories.
