Leaping back in time from issue #12 we have issue #0 of Batman. Will the origins of Bruce be told? Will we relive his past training and frustrations? No. Not really, this is a comic book after all and not a massive graphic novel where they have that kind of page allowance. We see a young Bruce return to the streets where his life was changed forever.

Instead of a dark emotional tale of flashbacks we get something different, a young rich man in the slums working to infiltrate and break down the infestation that haunts it. He is Bruce Wayne and he’s not exactly prepared for the utter mess he’s about to unleash, he gets shot at, punched around chased and he fumbles  like a newbie. But the important part is, he’s the newbie the city needs and he has the determination and massive fists of cash to make this work.

Issue 0 is a bit embarrassing for Bruce but it’s a genuine tale and honestly it helps place some history in this new beginning for Batman. We see classic figures like Gordon and we see the roots of the Bat family start to plant themselves throughout Gotham without feeling like a forced story of the group. He’s daring and eager and attempting to push himself to be as above the cut as possible so no one gets the drop on him, he’s not exactly Batman yet but he’s sure working to get there fast.

For those who thought 12 was too much of a deviation, 0 makes up for that greatly and it doesn’t just leap back into the Owl’s to put in quick story. It’s a human look at a man who wants to change things and will stop at nothing to do it.

Justice League #4 sells out, goes back to print again

It’s a good time to be a comic publisher, DC is loving the attention as they send Justice League #4 back for a third printing to get the books out to fans. While this doesn’t top issue #1 which has made 7 trips to the printer it’s still a feat and even issues 5 and 6 are going ahead to the printers to keep the supply flowing.

It’s an important issue to the series, showing off Aquaman, introducing Cyborg’s transformation and of course… Darkseid.

Justice League Jim Lee concept art revealed for issue 9

Jim Lee has been hard at work preparing for his return to Justice League in issue 9, today we have a glimpse of a new enemy slated to hit the League in the next few issues. Check out the image below for a huge teaser about someone set to get in the way of this Villains Story or possibly drive it all to new levels.

Justice League moves to the present in issue #7

Entertainment Weekly secured a preview of issue #7 to Justice League this week, the article securing information that our back-story arc about the league is coming to a close and we’ll get a taste of the heroes acting out in 2012. The issue is set to demonstrate many things, not just their actions and behavior but also the public perception of the group and the experience of the “Villain’s Journey”. It’s a hard hit that fans will see, they’ll also get a dose of SHAZAM! in a backup story as well as this new story picks up speed and gets readers on the present day journey.

The 4 pages of tease that EW has are great to open into, it’s almost a form of torture though. Seeing the desperation of the people and the vast amount of faith dumped into the league only to see the words “But that will change” as they arrive in time to save the people from a desperate hour. Fortunately the book goes on sale tomorrow so there shouldn’t be too much delay if you really need to jump in after catching these pages.
