Bioshock Infinite brings the Siren in a new video

Bioshock Infinity is already going to new levels of development for enemies and challenges, the Siren is their latest reveal in enemies to torture you in the game world. Acting as a host gathering souls of the dead, the Siren is able to resurrect the bodies you left behind and set them back at you leaving the choice of action to you for how to go forward. Do you kill the Siren and take additional damage by running and hiding or do you engage your undead foes and then take down the Siren? The choice is entirely yours and it seems the team had no intent of making either decision a forgiving one.

The Heavy Hitter series is done but really how else could they have topped this for damage? A supernatural entity raising the dead while you fight… great, just what everyone wanted.

New details for The Walking Dead The Game emerge

Walking Dead fans get ready, Telltale Games has just released some news about their upcoming, 5 part episodic game release and if you’re lucky you just might have the chance to die! Telltale is offering a discount for PC and Mac users if you pre-order The Walking Dead game now for $22.49 (instead of $24.99) and you get access to the developers forum. That’s not all though, one lucky fan will get to be in the game (episode 4) as a human survivor who dies in a way that they are describing as something “…even Robert Kirkman would shudder at.” In addition, up to four other lucky fans will be chosen to be zombies in the game. Telltale Games, the masterminds behind games such as “Back To The Future” and “Jurassic Park” are extending a super deal to The Walking Dead pre-orderers. For just $20 more you can add the “Almost Everything Pack” to your order and get the above games plus “Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People”, “Hector”, “Sam & Max Seasons 1-3” and “Puzzle Agent 1 & 2”! End of Nations heads into Beta, shows off in new trailer

End of Nations is rolling into beta status soon, to kick that off the folks at Trion have unveiled a video teaser to get everyone amped up about their massive online free-to-play RTS. We got a chance to sit down with the team at a preview event last month and the impressions were good, while the dynamic online was a shift back to reminders of C&C 4 it didn’t try to pretend it was ever offering base building capability.

Users will need to calculate their expenditures in End of Nations as they build their company teams to go into battle, as things heat up those 3 groups will be all that helps determine the chance of success as all out war strikes. Forgot to include AA into your ground troop package? Good luck with that one, the same applies to any group though and everyone will need to be on top of their game in team battles to push the other side into submission.

Sign up for the beta here and watch the trailer for a taste of what End of Nations is about.

Maxis goes inside SimCity with a video on the GlassBox Engine

SimCity is coming back in a big way, the new game is slated to attack a new generation of gamers on the PC in 2013, there’s a lot of road to clear between now and then and Maxis is determined to demonstrate their efforts so far in this latest video. The clip demonstrates the power of the GlassBox engine driving the entire experience for users. The goal of GlassBox is simple, everything around you is active and acts as a messenger to the larger game engine, all the changes and choices you make feed back to the larger simulation engine active and shape your destiny and the destiny of your city.

It’s an interesting look at what helps shape a game like this and how much complexity rests under the hood and is never seen. Check out the clip below for part 1 and we’ll keep you posted when more clips go live.

2K and and Irrational announce BioShock Infinite release date

2K is on an announcement spree this week, today we’re packing news about BioShock Infinite going to retail on October 16, 2012 for all platforms (Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC). With the game already sweeping up 75 awards at E3 2011 and nominations for most anticipated games of 2012 it’s at least a small relief to know it’s coming in the next 7 months. For those new to Infinite, the story takes place with Booker DeWitt a former Pinkerton agent, combined with his assistant Elizabeth the two explore and struggle to escape from the Sky City of Columbia. With a 1912 American alternate reality and packing a variety of new weapons to the series and bonus abilities as well it turns the classic style of BioShock into a new experience for all.

If you’re still not sure, check out this 15 minute demo of the game from E3:

Borderlands 2 packs Steamworks on PC

Gearbox and 2K have been quick to eliminate any speculation about online support and protections for Borderlands 2, today they’ve announced that Steamworks will handle achievements, DLC, updates and matchmaking services with Steam Cloud picking up the tab for game progress data as well.

This acts as a shift from the in-house system used in the original title on the PC, with Steamworks they’re able to harness an entire user base with relative ease especially when handling 4 player match-ups. The only frustration might come from using online activation for the game, generally Steam requires online decryption of the files before allowing someone to play the game offline which means there will be a one-time validation requirement attached.

Borderlands 2 is set to arrive this September, hopefully we’ll have some deeper looks at the game between now and the release.

The Serious Sam Collection and a retrospective by Rich Knuckles

You thought you knew hardcore when you played MW for the first time, or when you managed your way into BF3. Fact is, you never knew hardcore at all because everyone seem to have forgotten about Sam… Serious Sam. The hardcore bastard with a love for killing everything that Mental can throw at him came back at the end of 2011 with a new game and tons of action for PC gamers. With BFE and the indie series already out for sale on various digital channels there was only one more thing Croteam and Devolver Digital could do, The Serious Sam Collection is a result of that.

Check out the video to get a full taste for how epic this really is. After that, head over to Steam and get in on the goodness because it’s that damn amazing.
