Gamescom is here, it’s time to get our PS4 news on, check out the live stream below from the event and see what Sony has up their sleeve for this Fall season.
Yesterday Sony Entertainment gave us the scope on the PlayStation 4, Lead architect Mark Cerny presented and went of the specs of the Nex-Gen console staying the goal is to “free developers form technological barriers.” With a history of 30 years in the gaming industry Mark Cerny has seen it all.
In the beginning of the event Cerny got into detail of what’s really inside the console, the Ps4 will use the X86 CPU with 8GB memory and a local hard drive; it will also use the APU technology and GDDR5 memory that is found in high end graphics cards.
One of main focal points Cerny and the rest of the developers that spoke put a lot of emphasis on Simple, Immediate, Social, Integrated and personalized as words to describe the Ps4. The first major thing announced was that the console has a secondary chip for uploading and downloading in the background as you play, Example if you’re playing a game and you want to record it all you have to do is press a button on the controller and it will record that very second, that same chip also lets you play Digital games as it’s being downloaded.
Sony’s Ps vita will be compatible with the Ps4, letting the gamer switch between the two without starting your game over, somewhat like the Wii U controller. The social aspect of ps4 looks to be impressive as well players can now tune in to fellow gamers and watches them playing through there game, players can even ask there spectators for help, going as far as giving the spectator the ability to take control of the game. All which Sony’s Anderw House said will create “Experiences that surpass gamer’s wildest expectations.”
From there capabilities of the Ps4 graphical prowess were shown in demo reels of real time graphic engines like the Unreal engine 4, square enix luminous engine, and Capcom’s impressive Panta Rhei engine, also shown was the improvements of the Move and motion stick and how it could be used in the Ps4, with games allowing the player to create things in full scale 3D.
The final hour of the Event was basically dedicated to the games that are going to be released when the Ps4 hits. Games like Sucker Punches Infamous: Second Son and Bungie’s Destiny didn’t have actually in game footage, but developers Guerrilla Games Killzone: Shadow Fall and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs had on hand real time game demos live.
In the end Sony’s PlayStation Event was what I expected it to be and that is the official announcement of the PS4. From top-tier exclusives from its best studios to multiplatform experiences from respected publishers and developers in the industry, the Ps4 looks to start off with a bang.
Here are the gameplay footage of the new Killzone and a brand new Watch Dogs game footage.
On Feb 20, is going to be a big day for Sony PlayStation and the gaming community as a hole, New York City will be the site for PlayStation highly anticipated event to discuss the future plans of PlayStation, but let’s be honest everyone is waiting to see if Nex-gen console Orbis aka PlayStation 4 is going to be presented, We all knew sooner or later nex-gen consoles where going to come in the near future we just didn’t know when. But when Nintendo debut a playable Wii U at E3 2011 show floor the gaming community realized that the Nex-Gen is here and from then on we all new that Sony and Microsoft where working on new consoles and it was just a matter of time before they gave us the scope.
Last year’s E3 was a clear indication that a new PlayStation and Xbox was in the works, with games like Watch Dogs and Stars Wars 1313 which were obviously made for the Nex-Gen consoles display some beautiful high end graphics and then top it off with Square Enix’s Next-Gen Engine tech demo, you officially ushered the new ear of gaming. While there was plenty of other things shown at or after E3 which gave us a glimpse of future gaming, those were the most talked about.

THE RACE RETURNS IN 2013 – GET READY FOR TOTAL RACE DAY IMMERSION AS CODEMASTERS® UNVEILS GRID®2™
Be Fast, Be First, Be Famous – GRID 2 Trailer Makes Stunning Debut at www.GRIDGAME.com
Los Angeles, Calif. – August 8, 2012 – Codemasters® today announced that GRID® 2™, the long-awaited sequel to the BAFTA-award winning, critically acclaimed GRID™, is in production at Codemasters Racing Studios and set for a 2013 launch for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC.
Revealing the first of the game’s new locations, including Chicago and Paris, the debut GRID 2 trailer video is now showing at www.gridgame.com and captures a snapshot of the relentless, high-impact aggressive thrills that lie at the core of GRID 2’s cinematic race experience.
GRID 2 will challenge players to be fast, be first and be famous as they enter a stunning new world of competitive motorsport. In pre-production for two years, GRID 2 is now in full development on the latest evolution of the award-winning EGO Game Technology Platform. Following the success of GRID, which set new standards for damage, AI, visuals and introduced the Flashback time rewind feature – now adopted by many racing games – GRID 2 will again raise the gameplay and technological bar for motorsport gaming and remain true to the series’ core values – it’s all about the race.
“GRID’s back and we’re going to make street, track and road racing exciting again,” said Clive Moody, Executive Producer. “The core design philosophy for GRID 2 is that we treat the race as a character, not a consequence of simply putting cars on tracks. Everything that goes into the game impacts on that second-to-second, in the moment, blockbuster drama – the feel and personality of the race.”
“We’re pushing boundaries once again with what can be accomplished in the genre via new tools, technology and innovations. In single-player, split-screen and online, the next-generation of the EGO Game Technology Platform will power graphics, AI, handling and damage advancements that will immerse players in the racing experience like never before. Like its predecessor, GRID 2 will put the sheer thrill and adrenaline rush of the race at the heart of the experience. It’s what we call Total Race Day Immersion.”
In an expansive career mode, players will experience aggressive wheel-to-wheel racing against advanced AI where each spectacular race unfolds with cinematic immersion. Building on the handling model from GRID, the new TrueFeel Handling System will use real physics to hit a sweetspot between accessibility and simulation and deliver handling that is approachable yet challenging to master.
Going behind the wheel of a handpicked selection of automotive icons spanning four decades and three continents – North America, Europe and Asia – players will race their way to the top of a new, evolving world of motorsport. From Paris to Abu Dhabi, Miami to the sun-kissed California coast and beyond, beautifully created city streets, licensed circuits and edge-of-control mountain roads will become home to the most visceral and exhilarating races in gaming.
GRID 2 will also set new standards for a racing multiplayer experience with an entirely distinct and extensive gameplay component and unique progression system. Deep customisation options and integration with RaceNet* – the online community portal for Codemasters Racing games which tracks player’s races, rewards and rivals – will offer further immersion and connectivity in GRID 2’s new world of motorsport.

The future is bleak, the war is real and everything is wrecked. Sounds like the basis of something awesome right? Well it is because it means another Armored Core game is coming, the 5th actually in the primary story line and it promises to bring that mech action that everyone loves so much back into the front lines.

Just when you thought the arcade shooter was dead. Sega comes in with one of the campiest games ever. House of the Dead: Overkill is a journey into madness using the PS3 move control system this round, players will go round after round into a 70’s Grind House inspired slaughter with only their sanity to lose.
Personally, Overkill on the Wii felt short, I hope they can get a little extra life out of this port because the game is funny to go through with a friend or in a group. Check out the screens below to see the art goodies and caps from Overkill.
If you have never played Xenogears when it was on the playstation, you are missing one of the greatest RPGs to ever be released.
The game was tough to find if you weren’t an early adopter. It wasn’t at all uncommon to see ebay listings over 100 dollars. The release as a greatest hits made it much easier to get a hold of.
Now it is available on PSN!! The 10 dollar ticket price is well worth it considering the cheapest it is currently on amazon for is $44 plus shipping.
