For over fifty years, “Spy vs. Spy” has appeared in the pages of MAD Magazine. This dastardly pair (one dressed in black and one dressed in white) has continued to one-up the other, til death do they part. In MAD #515, writer/artist Peter Kuper continues this longstanding and classic tradition with his new strip depicting this diabolical duo of double-cross and deceit. Click here to see the latest installment of “Spy vs. Spy” and be sure to pick up a copy of MAD #515 when it hits newsstands on April 24th.

Uncanny X-Force #25 preview pages arrive!

Marvel is sending a lot of goodies out today, one of those includes preview pages and the cover for Uncanny X-Force issue #25. While limited to just 2 pages it’s still a nice look and it sets up some tension as that sniper scope looms over one of the residents. As usual no text is included with the panels so you’re left to come up to your own conclusions on what’s going on which only makes the tension that much greater.

Preview pages for The Shade #7 arrive from DC

Today DC has a treat for fans of The Shade, not only do we have some issue #7 preview pages we also have a sample of the variant cover as well.

The Inquisitor plans to unleash hell on Earth and the plan is coming full circle, with the acolytes committing suicide already the dark days are coming. The Shade only has La Sangre and Montpellier by his side to stop this plot and save the lives of those already taken by The Inquisitor, the only catch is once they see his identity they’ll need to dig up one more item to put him down.

DC managed to grab a few words with the creative team on the issue as well.

“I’m excited for issue #7 to come out for a lot of reasons,” series writer James Robinson told THE SOURCE. “It wraps up the Barcelona arc with Javier Pulido, a story that I’ve loved working on, and which I’m really gratified to see readers have enjoyed along with the introduction of the vampire super-heroine La Sangre. Here in this final issue we finally learn the Inquisitor’s grand scheme and see the Shade using his powers to the Nth degree, both important pieces of what will eventually combine into the overall grand story line of all 12 issues. I’m also happy that the issue serves to both set up issue #8’s ‘Times Past’ story with art by Jill Thompson as well as having a cliffhanger ending that leads us into the ‘London arc’ beginning in issue #9 with art by Frazer Irving. This is a labor of love for me, so a big thank you to all the readers who’ve supported this book.”

The Shade #7 goes on sale tomorrow so you won’t have to wait very long to get your hands on it, in the meantime check out the gallery below for images on the comic.

DC gives previews of Superboy #8 and Saucer Country #2

DC has some goodies for the fans today, first look previews of Superboy #8 and Saucer country are now available.

Superboy #8

The story acts as a prelude to the crossover that DC has been talking about for the past few conventions now, Teen Titans, Legion Lost and The Ravagers are all coming to a head in this new event. The book works to help tie all of these groups together before this new arc kicks off.

Saucer Country #2

Arcadia Alvarado is back, the Presidential hopeful telling tales of abduction is running full steam into issue #2 as staff and trusted friends get wind of the tale and the warning of a full invasion coming their way. Is this the best idea around? Probably not, but we’ll see how well her people can keep a secret and if this ultimately damages her future campaign plans.

New Avengers #24 gives a sneak peek with preview pages

Marvel is out in full force promoting AvX, with the debut issue already out they’re now preparing readers for the side story arcs including the New Avengers. Luke Cage isn’t all that sold on the idea of this battle and it seems like he’ll be another stone in the path for Captain America before he expands his forces, how his decision impacts the team at large will be uncovered and we’ll get a better glimpse it seems as to where Wolverine sits in this. By the cover art it seems the appearance on island at the end of Avengers vs X-Men wasn’t as telling as it seemed.

Check out the panels in the gallery below, keep in mind that Marvel preview pages do not come with text so your guess is as good as ours on where it’s all going.

Captain America & Hawkeye #629 preview art arrives

Captain America and Hawkeye are teaming up again, with so many conflicts they’re willing to put some of it aside for the greater good. Cullen Bunn and Alessandro are on board to help launch the new book later this month (April 25). Their adventure is a bit abnormal, they’ll be fighting dinosaurs and other prehistoric friends while trying to retain some mutual ability to work together in the thick of it all.

Some words from the writing duo on this new character mashup.

“When I originally described this arc, I said something along the lines of ‘Captain America and Hawkeye fight a bunch of dinosaurs,’” Bunn notes. “That was [both] an oversimplification and a bit of misdirection on my part. What they face is much, much worse than just a bunch of dinosaurs. An evil thought long-destroyed is awakening beneath the mountains. It becomes readily apparent that they should have called in [all] the Avengers from the get-go.”

“I’ve always liked Stegron,” says Bunn. “He’s a fun dinosaur guy with a mad scientist’s brain. More importantly, though, his particular power-set made him a perfect fit for the story I had in mind. This is a strange, creepy adventure for Cap and Hawkeye [and] it’s Stegron who sets everything in motion.

“On the surface, Cap may be a little too ‘stuffed shirt’ to be versatile, but nothing could be further from the truth,” Bunn insists. “[That] may be the public persona, but Cap is just as human as the next person. He has his moments of doubt, humor, awkwardness and self-reflection.

“In this series, we’re seeing how Cap intersects with other heroes. [His] partners may enter these team-ups with preconceived notions. In some cases, Cap may live up to their expectations. In others, he may surprise them.”

For those wondering, this will not end up as a steady pairing with Hawkeye and the Captain, instead it will evolve as a group event series allowing Captain America to interact with many heroes in the Marvel Universe and develop his character even more.

G.I. Combat #3 cover strikes, danger ahead

DC likes to drop art previews all the time, today we’re getting a shot at G.I. Combat #3 where a friendly baby dino encounter is about to turn bad in a way like no other.

Never really saw rage on a dinosaur before, yelling yes but rage has been absent even in movies. I can safely say I have seen it now and it’s absolutely terrifying. 🙁 Check it out for yourself below.
