Today we have a bit of good news for Gotham City Impostors owners, well at least those of you on the 360, today we see a new update that brings matchmaking fixes and live joining ability to matches. Also new maps, weapons, gadgets and other goodies are also unleashed in this update for use immediately, finally the DLC tops things off with new costumes for characters to spice up the action just a bit. The only word for PC and PS3 players is that an update with the same goods will arrive in the near future, no word is out on this meaning possible exclusive releases for the 360 on this game but it wouldn’t be a first.

Check out the trailer below to get an idea of the madness coming in the new DLC for the game! If you haven’t heard of Gotham City Impostors check out the official site for more info and extra videos on the game.

Update – Gotham City Impostors pushed back to February

So we’ve heard about Gotham City Impostors for a while now, unfortunately today we hear a sad tale from WB where the game is been pushed back to February now with no specific date of when to expect it.

It’s an unfortunate setback for the game as it is set to pit 12 players head to head in mock super hero and super villain teams using licensed material from the Batman franchise of course. Xbox, Playstation and PC users will be able to get access to the game as a downloadable title and battle it out to their heart’s content. I saw the game in action at E3 2011 and it looked decent enough but unfortunately we’ll have to hold out a while longer to see if it’s worth jumping into.

For more info keep an eye on the Gotham City Impostors homepage for details. Otherwise check out the video below to get an idea of what feels like a Batman themed TF2 massive shooter.

PDP rolls out their final Collector’s Edition TRON controllers

That’s not true, it’s the final line of controllers related to the license, if it was just their final controller it would be a crazy battle of the TRON fans for who gets it.

Moving back to the topic, PDP is here with their final collector’s edition for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in white. For those who haven’t seen TRON, come on man… for everyone else, these do pay a nice tribute to the movie with their styling on these models. Personally I love things that glow but that’s a given because of my wish to light every section of my PC case right now. Without carrying on too much more, here’s the breakdown.

Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Price: $49.99
Developed by: PDP
Connections:  Wired (Xbox 360) | Wireless (PS3)
Buy it from PDP – Xbox 360 | Playstation 3

Check out the images below and try to say you wouldn’t want one of these hanging around in your collection. Both models stick to their genuine controller styles. No excess bulk or strange additions, just straight up gaming goodness with a bright super white glow.

Armored Core V screenshots arrive

The future is bleak, the war is real and everything is wrecked. Sounds like the basis of something awesome right? Well it is because it means another Armored Core game is coming, the 5th actually in the primary story line and it promises to bring that mech action that everyone loves so much back into the front lines.

Check out this debut gallery for all the goods.

Team Ninja spills more details on Dead or Alive 5

Team Ninja has odd timing but we’re not going to question that, instead we’re bringing first looks at Ayane and Hitomi who are two of the most recognized fighters in the mix for the DOA universe. At TGS Team Ninja teases Ryu Hayabusa and Hayate but there’s no doubt this will stir some interest. Check out the screens below to get a feel for it.

Done? Cool, Dead or Alive 5 promises to bring high quality and high energy fighting into the mix, something we’ve had no shortage of with games like UMVC3 and KOF stepping up their speed of pace this year. Their focus will be on displaying a variety of techniques along with their signature styles already formed, the mix should attract fans and fighting purists into a brawl unlike any other.

Dead or Alive took off on the Dreamcast and in the Arcades when it released its sequel title, from there it was high explosions graceful but powerful moves and intense combinations that carried it into legend. For me, it’s one of the best 3D fighters in the mix as it always sticks true to the basic formula for gameplay and few titles out there can pull that off anymore.

DC Universe soon to be free to play

DC Universe fans will soon be a available at a greatly reduced rate of free. Here is the news and breakdown on the three tiers from Sony.

Sony Online Entertainment today announced a new free-to-play business model for its popular massively multiplayer online (MMO) game DC Universe Online (DCUO) — where players have the freedom to become legendary fighting alongside DC Comics icons like Superman, Batman and The Jokerin an ever-evolving online action adventure that has already logged more than 42 million hours of super-powered gameplay action by players since its launch earlier this year.

Beginning late October, players will be able to download and access DCUO for free on both the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC. As part of this transition, SOE is introducing three new access levels to the game: Free, Premium and Legendary. All three levels will provide access to open world gameplay and missions, general game updates and fixes to the game, with each level offering different game options and benefits.

“When we launched DC Universe Online, we introduced a very different brand of massive online game driven by fast action combat to PC and PS3™gamers and with that, we discovered a new type of online gamer,” said John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. “We’ve listened to our community, and we’ve determined that the free-to-play model is the best fit for DC Universe Online.”

Smedley added, “Our philosophy embraces learning from our experience and as a pioneer in the free-to-play space with proven successful games like Free Realms and Clone Wars Adventures, we believe this new model will expand the DCUO experience and offer more options that cater to every type of player so they can play the game in a way that fits them.”

All three levels provide access to the current game, but allow differing tiers of convenience and flexibility. The levels are:

* Free: New players will now have access to the current gameplay in DC Universe Online (including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts), with the ability to create two characters, join a league and many other benefits. Free level players will be able to purchase downloadable game packs/updates, additional character slots, powers and more through microtransactions.

* Premium: Any player who has spent at least $5 USD (including former paid subscribers and new players who have purchased $5 of in-game items) will qualify for the Premium access level. Premium level players will have more benefits available to them than the Free level player, including additional character slots, additional inventory slots, and higher cash limits. Downloadable adventure packs, additional character slots, and more can be purchased in-game.

* Legendary: Maximum features and benefits are included at this level. Loaded with enhanced additional features, Legendary access will be available for a $14.99 USD monthly fee and includes all DLC packs at no cost, more than 15 character slots, more than 80 inventory slots, the ability to form unrestricted-sized leagues, and many other benefits.

More information on the DCUO free-to-play access levels can be found here: http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/free/ .

PS3 price drop

Starting today Sony has dropped the price of the PlayStation 3. The 160gb model is now 249.99.

If you need more storage, the 320gb model is now available for 299.99. Interestingly there is also an 320gb Infamous 2 bundle that includes 30 days of PlayStation prime for 299.99. That maybe the one to get if you are in the market, I believe supplies will be more limited.

Also worth noting, the new price point makes the “entry” level PS3 cheaper than the Vita. The Vita is priced at 299.99, which is a bit on the steep side for a handheld. The Vita seems to be feature rich but Nintendo has dominated the handheld market for over a decade and struggled to sell the 3DS at 249.99. Will consumers respond to features and applications or are the sales going to depend on the quality of the games released?

House of the Dead: Overkill gets screens and new art

Just when you thought the arcade shooter was dead. Sega comes in with one of the campiest games ever. House of the Dead: Overkill is a journey into madness using the PS3 move control system this round, players will go round after round into a 70’s Grind House inspired slaughter with only their sanity to lose.

Personally, Overkill on the Wii felt short, I hope they can get a little extra life out of this port because the game is funny to go through with a friend or in a group. Check out the screens below to see the art goodies and caps from Overkill.
