Many may not know or may have forgotten about the acquisition of Arkane Studios by Zenimax last year. Today they’re here with Dishonored a FPA (First Person Action) game already in development on the 360, PS3 and PC of course.
What do we know so far? Not much, Raphael Colantonio the lead design man for Arx Fatalis and Harvey Smith from Deus Ex are on board but the rest is being held for Game Informer who seems to have a full exclusivity agreement as the Dishonored website links to GI. At this point I usually refer you to their website but I’ll just paraphrase the important parts from the cover article topic.
The GI crew got a hands on with the game, the design itself leads to freedom of choice, a game about an assassin that doesn’t have to do it. About having the ability to use stealth and infiltration techniques using the most brutal methods just because you can. Placing full control on the choice of the user instead of forcing the hand of the player. In a sense it’s what many FPS games like the original Deus Ex tried to create for players. A sense of control or choice with every single action.

And… Ezio is back again.
Assassins Creed: Revelations is the final chapter to the his story and it seems like it might just be the greatest one yet, as Ezio goes through a journey of discovery walking the path of his mentor Altair. The journey will take him to new lands in pursuit of the Templars as they gather in Constantinople for a takeover. Add in some multiplayer with new modes, maps and characters and the game gets even more life as it presses everyone to test their skills in a new atmosphere.
Also on the plate is the ability to play with the construct of Desmond’s memories and the Animus to uncover the mystery of his past so the future is clear.
Unfortunately for more information we’ll all have to wait, the game will be shown in detail at E3 2011 this year. I can say I’m actually pretty interested to see how the series will wrap up this time around but hopefully it wont take months to get a PC version ported.
If you have never played Xenogears when it was on the playstation, you are missing one of the greatest RPGs to ever be released.
The game was tough to find if you weren’t an early adopter. It wasn’t at all uncommon to see ebay listings over 100 dollars. The release as a greatest hits made it much easier to get a hold of.
Now it is available on PSN!! The 10 dollar ticket price is well worth it considering the cheapest it is currently on amazon for is $44 plus shipping.
Yes the legend of the DDR community is coming across the ocean for a one night event including DDR stations and a special DJ set that he’ll hold for those attending the event. For many this may be the only time they ever get to see the artist at work.
Dance Dance Revolution for the PS3 and Wii will be available and DanceMasters for Xbox Kinect will also be available. Competitions and free play will be open for everyone to get in on if they RSVP right away.

Jack vs. Zangief!
While Yakuza 3 has just been released in the US, the development team has been working on the 4th iteration of the franchise. At E3 2010 they had the game on the floor showing off the latest combat. For those who played the Shenmue franchise or even Virtua Fighter, the motions and control should feel similar. Yakuza 4 brings a new package of stories, crossing between police and crime bosses from around the region.
While it wasn’t possible to play through the story itself, the combat was enough. As a king of the streets fights aren’t easy, group battles are all over and it’s up to the sword / barrel / nunchuk, spear wielding boss to settle it. Combat was simple and fast, quick button presses threw out kicks and punches with power moves to finish each enemy, some attacks able to strike down multiple enemies. For those wondering, the combat tree exists so any player can tailor their character to their tastes; close combat and weapons training are only the tip of the iceberg.

DLC is always a sketchy thing for Rock Band, sometimes a player gets some great artists and other times it makes you regret even looking. This week a few personal favorites arrived on the DLC slated for next week.
· Billy Idol – “Mony Mony”
· Billy Idol – “Rebel Yell”
· Fleetwood Mac – “Don’t Stop”
· Fleetwood Mac – “World Turning”
· Jet – “She’s a Genius”
· Tom Petty – “I Won’t Back Down”
· Tom Petty – “Runnin’ Down a Dream”
Billy Idol is great and the fact that I can destroy my vocal chords trying to sing like him in any capacity is just a good time waiting to happen. 😀 Look for these tracks next Tuesday in the Rock Band Store.
It is in the books, the PS3 went on a diet.
Starting tomorrow, you can get a slimmer PS3 without leaving your wallet anorexic. New price of $299.99 cuts the price by $100. Done away are the hdd options as the 120gig becomes the standard.
The only person not on the guest list, are PS2 games. The backwards compatibility sadly doesn’t survive the slim and sexy makeover.
