Two more titles join the growing Free-to-Play market, it's getting a little crowded guys...

Many games this year have turned from P2P models into F2P, in the past week we’ve seen 2 new titles join the mix and offer up free access or at least limited access to the players.

Lineage II is first up with their Truly Free model that they’ll be introducing. Along with that, they plan to release another major update titled, The Goddess of Destruction. All characters, classes and such will be accessible and the supplement to keep the economy of the game flowing will be based on a web shop for items and special additions. They also plan to introduce some booster incentives to allow new players to level up fast and get up to speed with the existing user base. Keep an eye out for this update as it’s slated to drop later this year.

- Lineage II

DC Universe Online is an unexpected addition to this field, a newcomer that struggled after the SOE breach earlier this year that was trying to get some ground in the market. DC Universe Online is accessible right now for free with the option to upgrade to 2 different tiers if players desire more character slots, inventory space, any auction space, bank slots, chat, mail or more cash room. It’s probably a bit more hardcore than many would expect especially when I just introduced Lineage II above this. Check out the full sheet and give the game a spin if you’re eager for action right now.

Sony drops the price of the PS3.

Starting today Sony has dropped the price of the PlayStation 3. The 160gb model is now 249.99.

If you need more storage, the 320gb model is now available for 299.99. Interestingly there is also an 320gb Infamous 2 bundle that includes 30 days of PlayStation prime for 299.99. That maybe the one to get if you are in the market, I believe supplies will be more limited.

Also worth noting, the new price point makes the “entry” level PS3 cheaper than the Vita. The Vita is priced at 299.99, which is a bit on the steep side for a handheld. The Vita seems to be feature rich but Nintendo has dominated the handheld market for over a decade and struggled to sell the 3DS at 249.99. Will consumers respond to features and applications or are the sales going to depend on the quality of the games released?

PS4? Maybe.

Could we see a Playstation 4 as early as 2012? There is a rumor coming out of Taiwan claiming Sony is having components built for the PS3 successor. One new aspect is the inclusion of full body movement based control, More kinect than Move style. Production is slated to begin late this year and hopes to make 20 million units available to ship throughout next year.

Now, as of now this is entirely speculation. It is a safe bet that Sony is testing tech for its new next gen console but it is fairly tough to believe they are settled on the details so soon. Also, the Vita is set to launch next year and it is difficult to imagine launching two not so cheap devices in such a short time.

There is of course, No comment from Sony as yet.

Gifts are always a pain for friends and family, CM4 hopes to sneak their way onto the lists of those gamers for 2010 with a price reduction on their catalyst line. The slim and tough covers are designed to compliment the latest portable systems from Nintendo and Sony and even cover the Wiimote.

Drawing attention to function without bulk the skins should earn a spot on lists for those unable to pinpoint a specific idea for that someone. Also the style and form should be enough to muscle out any existing cases they might have.

Instead of using two cameras on a handmade switch, consumers can now pick from a series of new Cyber-shot cameras packing 3D results with a single lens.

While everyone is running out to see the latest movie in crisp 3D, others are tinkering trying to figure out how to reproduce that clarity in their own space. Instead of using two cameras on a handmade switch, consumers can now pick from a series of new Cyber-shot cameras packing 3D results with a single lens.

For those eager to know how the camera does this, the camera uses a high speed capture design to take multiple shots and sew them together. The images can then be viewed in 2D or in 3D with the right hardware. For those curious to know their results before they shoot, the DSC-TX9 and WX5 both allow for 3D previews to be viewed before pushing the trigger. For those looking for intense 3D, both cameras also feature depth of field simulation and a revamped auto mode which searches for the lowest ISO noise possible.

The new models pack other features such as HD recording for video and additional modes. For the consumer looking to have extra fun with the camera the TX9 / T99 or WX5 should suit that desire perfectly. If we do catch Sony for a hands-on piece we’ll be sure to include pictures and details about how they handled.

Pricing:
TX9 – $400 (Dark Gray, Red)
T99 – $250 (Silver, Black, Pink, Green, Violet)
WX5 – $300 (Silver, Black)

Starting tomorrow, you can get a slimmer PS3 without leaving your wallet anorexic. New price of $299.99 cuts the price by $100. Done away are the hdd options as the 120gig becomes the standard.

The only person not on the guest list, are PS2 games. The backwards compatibility sadly doesn’t survive the slim and sexy makeover.
