What We’re Playing at BAMFAS (February Closeout)

What are we doing when we’re not posting news, reviews or grappling with the untamed beast that is our newswire? Watching things, playing things and since sharing what we watch didn’t come to mind as I wrote this introduction we’re just going to stick to what we’re doing in gaming right now. With that said let’s get started.

My time varies so I tend to invest myself in games I know or can sit down for quick doses of. Currently my time falls in the world of driving sims on the PC with GRID 2, American Truck Simulator and Dirt 3 leading the pack as classics that just feel really easy to get into and bail out of while enjoying myself in the process.

Highlights from GRID 2 mostly center around my obsession with the Touge battles in the game and my R32 GT-R, I usually end up playing Hard and Very Hard for my races to keep it interesting as I also use a Logitech G27 when I play.

GT-R vs Viper GTS

American Truck Simulator is an exercise in patience, control, sanity and so much more. Given playing by the rules can often result in some rough spells for concentration (driving 55mph for 120 mile trips with nothing else) there comes a time when you need a side account to just bring a little bit of release from it all.

When your brain slips and you get a random speed trap ticket, there’s little else to care about during your run.

Deadbolt makes a trucker go wild, and not in a remotely safe way, swing trailer swing!

Dirt 3 wasn’t a favorite of mine at launch, the amount of DLC and add-ons just made it feel different. Given it’s been out ages, it goes on sale all the time and there’s the Steam Edition with basically everything included though that has changed as you get all the goodies with it and given the eras of cars included that’s important. Check out some fast travels through the forests.

February Conclusion? I play way too many racing titles right now, it’s probably time to dig back into something with at least some basic substance or add some variety in but that four wheel drift is so fun and I have yet to hit massive semi truck drifting.

Since getting a PS4 I’ve been pretty much gaming hardcore on and off with a 3-game rotation, but as of late my time has been spend playing Sword of Online Hollow Realization. Being a fan of the anime I figure I’ll give the game a try, and for the most part I’m glad I did. While the game is enjoyable it does have a big negative for me, and that’s is dialogue heavy.

Seriously there’s scenes of dialogue that last for like 10 mins over nothing, if I was reviewing this game it would be a pain dealing with that but since I’m not I can skip over some the scenes and get to the meat of the game and that’s the game play. Sword Art Online Hollow Realization reminds me a lot of PSO, a game I still play too this day, while the controls aren’t as smooth as pso the class customization is what really most the two so similar, down below I put to vids, one of PSO and the other SAO, and you tell if you see the any similarities between the two.

PS4: SAO

PC PSO2 : Warning quality is not good, was my first time streaming

That’s it for now, not sure if we’re doing these weekly yet or if we’re just doing them as we actually dive into new titles. We’ll get back to you on that, in the meantime enjoy our footage and we’ll catch up soon!

SDCC 2012 – Doctor Who Season 7 Panel with Video

The good Doctor is just a few months away from returning to us on the television again, to hold everyone over though, the team made a stop at San Diego Comic-Con again this year to share tidbits on the new season including details around the trouble headed toward the Ponds and a little bit on the new companion headed to the show.

Attempted to shoot this on video for better record keeping, it didn’t come out amazingly well due to the lack of a tripod but the audio is there to help guide things along. Unfortunately the BBC had forbidden recording of the video sections shown between discussion.

Marvel unleashes What The–?! AvX Pt. 3

Marvel has been on a string of animated shorts about AvX, today marks the final installment of the What The–?! series and it’s a big one that goes out with a bang. Wolverine took to revenge against Captain America and Cyclops while he mourned Jean’s passing in a series of pranks, the outcome was unexpected to say the least and everyone soon got pulled into the mess.

Check out the video below for a look, keep an eye on Bamfas for updates as we review AvX and related side stories as well.

Marvel continues AvX knowledge with What The–?! Part 2

First Cyclops and Captain America teased Wolverine as he reminisced about Jean being lost to the Phoenix. Today we see an angry Wolverine work on the payback he’s been working on to get back at these two for playing with his mind. The war is on and you’ll see it in the clip below.

Expect the best refrigerator joke ever from Wolverine and an inspiring voice acting moment from Gambit. Damn you Marvel for making such amazing things with figures.

Dark Horse hits Geek & Sundry with The Secret motion comic

Remember our Wondercon coverage about Geek & Sundry? It’s April and they’ve wasted no time to get into the groove, Dark Horse has their first motion comic out using their latest technology for viewing. Check out the upgraded version of The Secret in the embedded clip below.

First impressions, smooth movement, nice body gestures and the live camera follow is well executed as it drives down a corridor. It’s much less jerky and actually gives the impression of an animation. I don’t know if I could take all my comics in this form but it’s certainly an interesting new path they’re going down.

Marvel explains all about AvX in What The–?! Pt. 1

So you were really wondering how Avengers vs X-Men started? Well don’t worry, Marvel has found a creative way using action figures to sum up how this all started up and to hint at the untold damage to come when Captain America impersonates Jean Grey.

I know, it’s a mess, just check out the video and you’ll see. It’s action figure magic combined with hardcore drama.

A new Game of Thrones RPG trailer arrives – This is War

Atlus has been hard at work getting the word out about all the new shifts coming to the new Game of Thrones RPG, today we get another peek as the May release date approaches, while it wont be in time for the season return of the show it’ll still be an interesting expansion on the universe. We’re holding out on calling anything on this one as it could go either way, hopefully Atlus can turn out a winner and make RPG and Game of Thrones fans happy though.

Check out the video below to see This is War, it’s pretty epic and the visuals are polishing up well.

The Boys of Silence grace the Bioshock Infinite World in a new video

The heavy hitters series tones it down a bit, the boys of silence are here with a new introduction, a creepy introduction. Blind but not deaf, you have to choose to go gung-ho with them or dance around them and hope that they don’t call for backup. They’re really a freaky creation, while a big hulking brute is intimidating it’s worse to have a bunch of stalkers roaming that can hear your every move and call in even more backup to do the same at a larger coverage area.

The developer video helps explain the mindset and why they felt it would be a great idea. Personally I understand that it offers variety but the thing just looks creepy.
