Our scene opens with speared horsemen and a dual sworded Spartacus leading them down a trail, we get a graphic showing of his prowess for combat, the calculations in how he handles his surroundings and his toughness. As his allied team emerges from behind the rocks it becomes a ballet of brutal engagement with he and his followers carefully tackling the entire group. We see the numbers growing and Spartacus throwing himself into the front line to protect his men and destroy the odds, each strike and enemy taken down with sheer force. The intensity the show brings is just as strong as ever, the story though, has a new path to expand his world.

Visually it’s a series of struggle and drama, his men are battered and tired but willing and Spartacus is fighting with it all on the line, no injury is too much as he executes each opponent. The camera team showcases critical strikes and dominance in slow motion cuts from both sides in the heated exchange.

The scene sets the tempo for what Spartacus is up against, he has strength and courage but his power also rests in the loyalty and numbers of his team. We’re teased that Spartacus will take notice and become emotionally aware of the death that follows with such a campaign that he’s leading. Liam McIntyre feels passionate about the character development coming to the season and the potential for viewers.

For those wondering about Hulu Plus. No sign of it yet in the update notes the shop or on Hulu itself, what was one of the most anticipated updates is still missing from the 3DS.

Here are a few special notes on the upgrade:

• 3D Video is limited to 10 minute bursts, most likely a buffer limitation
• The eShop now supports credit to add the funds required
• Download now or Download later are available for purchases on the fly
• Download queues are now able to work while the system is in sleep mode
• Find Mii and Puzzle swap see new upgrades in StreetPass Mii Plaza
• Nintendo Zone support is expanded to over 29,000 3DS Hotspots
• Netflix requires a subscription still ($7.99 base)

A few of you may recognize the video as the E3 demo but what is new, is narration by Saints Row writer Drew Holmes.

Insane vehicles, weapons and crazy amounts of customization!

It’s here, the HD 6990 4GB and there’s not much to say to describe this moment. ATI / AMD has been coming up with dual-GPU solutions for years now, I’m not unenthusiastic though, in fact I’m still beside myself days after this thing hit review sites across the world. The speed of the card is so fast that even the most demanding games just give up when it comes to opposing the 6990 in any benchmark or play through.

Coming in with a 375W base requirement for juice puts this card well above the competition but it goes even further when the AUSUM mode is turned to overclocked settings, eating up 450W in a lump and begging for more. Benchmark games of Crysis and Metro 2033 are spat out with a laugh at most resolutions to the point where anything less than a dual 580 or 6970 setup is completely shadowed. We’re on the verge of something more as AMD pushes this beast out, the graphic world will shift again and plow forward with new power to support it at playable rates.

For those with about $710 to spare it’s sold out in most major outlets such as Newegg, Tigerdirect, Frys and Amazon. If you do dare to try and tame the beast I would highly suggest evaluating your current system from the PSU to the CPU. Anything less than the most high speed chip will most likely fail to maximize the power and a struggling PSU may put your entire system at risk. [AMD certified PSU list]

So while I’ve talked about the latest beast on the block, I still have no words to describe it, if we’re ever lucky enough for AMD to loan us one I promise to try and find something in any language to best describe the experience.

From July – August PBS stations will be airing Video Games Live as part of their special programming.  The CD and DVD/Blu-ray will also be available through November 1st 2010. The CD will feature 16 select tracks while the DVD and Blu-ray run over 3 hours of bonus material with extended segments and interviews.

Final Fantasy seems to have no end of installments on the DS, for many, this is a great thing as finding a good and long game can be a chore. Today we get a look at the Crown System of jobs that can be assigned to characters in game.  Check out the video and screens below for details on how it works and what starting classes are available.
