Warner Bros begins on Bleach Live Action Movie

News broke out yesterday on this story, today we have some elaboration from Viz on the situation and the involvement around this project. Given the history of conversions from Anime to film it’s a worry for any fan to see something like this come up.

We have the current creative team lined up.

  • Peter Segal (GET SMART, THE LONGEST YARD), Callahan Filmworks – Producer, with an eye towards possibly directing
  • Dan Mazeau (CLASH OF THE TITANS), Callahan Filmworks – Screenwriter
  • Michael Ewing, Callhan Filmworks – Producer
  • Masi Oka (HEROES, HAWAII FIVE-0) – Producer
  • Jason Hoffs, VIZ Productions – Producer
  • Branon Coluccio, VIZ Productions – Executive Producer

There’s no word on what involvement Tite Kubo might have if any, one would hope they look to him for some direction so that it doesn’t completely blast the fans away by going the wrong direction.

I would love to be behind this prospect but I can’t help being skeptical on how this venture is going to turn out. Even in Japan they haven’t attempted a live action.

We’ll keep everyone posted as Viz turns out updates on the progress.

Update – Gotham City Impostors pushed back to February

So we’ve heard about Gotham City Impostors for a while now, unfortunately today we hear a sad tale from WB where the game is been pushed back to February now with no specific date of when to expect it.

It’s an unfortunate setback for the game as it is set to pit 12 players head to head in mock super hero and super villain teams using licensed material from the Batman franchise of course. Xbox, Playstation and PC users will be able to get access to the game as a downloadable title and battle it out to their heart’s content. I saw the game in action at E3 2011 and it looked decent enough but unfortunately we’ll have to hold out a while longer to see if it’s worth jumping into.

For more info keep an eye on the Gotham City Impostors homepage for details. Otherwise check out the video below to get an idea of what feels like a Batman themed TF2 massive shooter.

February 9, 2010 it was comfirmed that David S. Goyer and Jonathan Nolan was teaming up with for the third flim, With brother Christopher directing. There hasn’t been any real news about the plot as of yet, keep your fingers crossed hopefully they will surprised the fans at Comic-con 2011, with a star powered cast which includes Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman and Tom Hardy as Bane.
