Issue #2 of The Strain finds the CDC still trying to determine what happened on that doomed flight that only left three survivors and hundreds dead. Something is not right with the dead bodies and everyone is frantically trying to figure out what happened. Nothing is adding up and the higher-ups want answers for the press conference and before the eclipse occurs (which is just hours away). Ephraim is charged with giving the press answers, the only problem, he has none. The three survivors have come to, but they seem to have no recollection of what happened on the plane. A smelly mysterious box has been found on the plane and just as quickly as it was found it disappears. What significance does the box have? What’s going on with the dead bodies and the live ones for that matter? I don’t know but I can’t wait to find out!

This issue is fast paced, eerie and just plain awesome. There is a hectic, scary vibe to it that really draws the reader in. The Strain #2 raises a lot of questions and keeps the reader begging for the answers. The characters are interesting and the dialog is great. The art is superb, Mike Huddleston’s work is fantastic, he captures the gross without making it too over the top, just the right amount of gore. I’m so excited to see where this story is going to go, I can’t wait for the next issue…I’m definitely infected!
